Controversial NIT Ending sends UNC to Title Game

For those of you that missed last night's controversial ending between the Rhode Island Rams and North Carolina Tarheels NIT semifinal, well we got it for you.

UNC currently holds the lead by the score of 68-67 with about 22.7 seconds on the clock. Rhode Island decides not to foul in this situation and forces a shot by UNC's Larry Drew who misses and Rhode Island's Lamont Ulmer corrales the rebound.

Then this happens.....

I'm think I'm onboard with ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla on this one, the replay appears to show that Ulmer grabs the rebound and then is tripped by UNC's Will Graves. That clearly should been called as a foul or even a clear-path foul.

In the end, UNC moves onto the title game to face Dayton as Rhode Island gets "tripped" up.

Wacky College Hoops Endings

If your not a college basketball fan, yesterday probably made you one. There many upset which included ranked teams, Tennessee/Florida/and Georgetown being upset by unranked teams.

Then you had two wacky finishes in games between Memphis-UMass and Butler-Xavier.

In the above video, 17th ranked Butler came up with a miracle finish as a batted ball deflected off a Butler player into the waiting hands of Butler guard Gordon Hawyard who laid it to give Butler the apparent lead with 1.2 seconds left. Xavier appeared to have a chance to win the game or tie it with the time remaining but a clock malfunction ended the game in a Butler win.

In the below video, Memphis took on UMass which was dubbed, "Former teams that John Calipari coached Bowl" Memphis appeared to be in control but UMass came back to cut into the lead.

With about 3.8 seconds. UMass appeared to be heading for overtime until a lucky deflection landed in the hands of UMass forward Terrell Vinson who banked in the game winner.

March seems ever so close.
