High School Baseball Team Wins 53-0...Yes, 53-0

When most people see the above picture, I think it might be assumed that it is a score misprint or scoreboard malfunction.

Sadly, that is not the case. Lakelands High School in Texas beat Samuels High by that score in five inning game.

We get more from TNSP Sportsnet:

First, it must be noted that the official score was 54-0. Second, it must be noted that neither coach agrees with this score. Lake Highlands coach Jay Higgins insist that the final score was 57-0, while Samuell coach Mike Peña claims the final score was 53-0. Does it matter?
.
How dominant was Lake Highlands on that night? Just digest a few of these numbers from the stat line. Lake Highlands batters hit for 1 triple, 5 doubles, and 38 singles! The team put up 21 runs in the 5th inning alone.
What makes that above score even more impressive is that Lake Highlands didn't hit a homerun in the game.

To put that score in perspective, the Texas Rangers in their first twelve spring training games have scored 74 runs, only 21 runs more than Highlands scored in that one game.

Roger Federer Goes Between the Legs For Winner

It's been awhile since I've done a tennis post here on Outside the Boxscore but this is worth the clip.

Roger Federer was playing a match in Qatar against Thomas Schoorel when he hit this tweener that got the point:

Watch this impressive dunk vs. Georgetown as he rises over Jerrelle Benimon:

Nasty Boxing Knock-Out At 2010 Asian Games

As you can tell, we here at Outside the Boxscore are huge fans of the 2010 Asian Games being held in Guangzhou, China.

During the boxing event, Kyrgyzstan’s Asadullo Boimuradov decided to finish off his opponent, Syria’s Mustafa Farah in rather spectacular fashion:

Move Over Ricardo, Old Asian Women Pwns In Pop-A-Shot

Previously on Outside the Boxscore, we showed the rather interesting skills of Jimmy Kimmel's Ricardo the Busboy in the arcade basketball game, "Pop-A-Shot".

Well, this video has now come to light of an Asian woman who might be able to take his crown:

Eric Gordon Posterizes DeJuan Blair

At first glance, Clipper guard Eric Gordon appears to be one NBA player who couldn't throw down a poster dunk.

However during last night's Spurs/Clippers he proved that theory wrong as he threw down two nasty slams.

The first being on Tim Duncan and the second one seen below on DeJuan Blair:

Jason Kidd Dials Up A 75-Foot Buzzer Beater

During last night's Dallas Mavericks/Los Angeles Clippers affair, Maverick guard Jason Kidd fired up a near full-court shot at the end of the second quarter.

I think you can figure out the rest from here:

Aaron Cook....Broken Fibula!

The Colorado Rockies are back into the thick of things in the National League West and the Wild Card race but they will be without pitcher Aaron Cook for an disclosed period of time.

Why you may ask? Cook broke his right fibula when Cincinnati's Joey Votto lined a ball off of his leg.

Below is the brutal video and you can actually her the audio of it snapping:

Drew Rosenhaus, Sports Agent and Destroyer of Flaming Bricks

When someone originally sent me this clip of sports agent Drew Rosenhaus, I was a little skeptical to say the least but the awesome that is this video over-ruled any doubts I had.

So here is Drew Rosenhaus breaking flaming bricks with his bare hands.

Co-Ed Softball Player Takes One to the Dome

There are many reasons why I do not play softball and the above video showcases one of those reasons.

During a co-ed softball tournament game, a line-drive hit is fielded cleanly by the opposing team's shortstop and thrown to first base in an attempt to record the out.

The only problem was that same shortstop's throw was off-line and hit the female batter in the head in her attempt to run to first.

I will say though, slo-mo makes anything enjoyable.

Jeff Carter Hit on Anssi Salmela

During Monday Night's matchup between the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers, Devils defensivemen Anssi Salmela scored a pretty goal in the second period to give the Devils, a 2-0 lead.

Nearing the end of his shot, Flyers centre Jeff Carter absolutely unloaded on him with a hit that knock Salmela flat out on the ice.

Salmela was taken off the ice in a strecher (as evidenced in the video), there is no current word on his status.

The hit itself appeared to be legal since Carter's shoulder wasn't too high and the hit did occur during the continuation of the play.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if Carter receives a fine or suspension from the NHL anytime soon.

Alexander Ovechkin Nails Jack Hillen in the Face

There are many things you probably should not do in the NHL and I pretty sure what is number one on the list is taking a slap-shot of Alexander Ovechkin to the face.

Well, Jack Hillen of the New York Islanders got in the crosshairs of one and we now know that all should steer clear of an Alexander Ovechkin slap-shot from now on.

Brandon Spikes will gouge your eyes out.....

Florida is still the number one ranked team in the nation and Brandon Spikes is arguably their best defensive player.

Some Georgia fans would explain to you that the video above is proof that Spikes is a dirty player.

In the middle of the third quarter, Georgia running-back Waushaun Easley takes a handoff up the middle and is tackled Spikes who decided to pull some extra-curricular activity to the eye-region of Easley's helmet. It's tough to tell if he does go for the eyes since we cannot tell from the replay.

The Florida Gators decided to suspend Spikes for a half. Yep, that's right, a half in the Gators upcoming game against Vanderbilt. I wonder what the SEC wil say about this?
