I knew there'd be a lot of "wuts" but this makes sense. If you don't like it, don't download it. I'm sure plenty of people will and it only adds value to their advertisers.

Honestly though, some of the ads are really well done. Maybe I just appreciate them more than some others being that I am kind of in the industry.

The bigger problem is that Apple rejected an app that served just this purpose (but was surely less pretty), as was already mentioned. This is a cool app, but they should be giving all of the money they earn from it to those that tried to submit this app long ago. I love Apple and have been converting slowly since my first iPod several years ago, but this is absolutely lame of them, even if it only effected a few people.

Ouch, I know how that is, I've had to replace things that I've broken trying to fix them; not that I would actually admit to breaking anything of course :p

It would drive me nuts being away from my computers knowing they need worked on. I guess I'm addicted - maybe... oh, I put -advmethods in the linux machines and they took off with new wu's so all is well for now. I did lose a bigadv unit on the 17th, or 14th I can't remember, when they had a glitch in one of the servers :(

oh yeah, it's driving me nuts being away. but at least i can go on the weekends.

Really a great update for a great product. And now even Mac Mini Solo has a supported configuration. I can't believe Apple has improved so many things for no update price. I also can't believe so many negative ratings. Those waiting for new MBPs, check out next MS event or E3 or Oscars...you never know :D .

2. There won't be a Microsoft AppStore for Windows INTEGRATED INTO WINDOWS. EVER. Why? Because they can't for LEGAL reasons...
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Windows Live Marketplace in Windows Vista a integrated (badly integrated but still integrated), App Store before it was discontinued due to lack of consumers and made to redirect to a Microsoft website that sold some products?

Simple designs have indeed existed for thousands of years, but most of the McMansions going up aren't like that, more like castle imitations. These people have all the money in the world and access to the best architects and designers to build something memorable and they end up getting a McCastle that the Beverly Hillbillys would like.

So, good for Jobs for having some taste and building something worthwhile.

And, yes, there will be a secret ATT antenna buried in the walls so Jobs will think his reception is normal.

I would have a turntable in front of the garage. You can devote less space to the driveway area. A water feature too. Any sign of solar? It is still a big house and will use a lot of energy no matter what.

I still think OS X peaked from an aesthetic and reliability standpoint with Panther. They've added more capabilities of course, but I'm always noticing fresh things missing with each release, and what with the interface becoming progressively duller and dingier....

That said, if OS X goes away, I'll simply stop using a computer. The alternatives aren't worth the suffering.

Show me another phone that can drop calls from just the position of one finger. Nokia have their problems at the moment, but their reception has always been rock solid.

As for people being surprised at Apple's childishness, have you forgotten about the douchetastic "I'm a Mac campaign".

I can't, but my iPhone 4 hasn't dropped any of my calls, my 3G use to drop calls 2 or 3 calls a month.

Plug-in hybrids put additional strain on the power grid, a strain it cannot currently handle on a large scale. So plugin electrics are not ready for large-scale adoption yet. If electric cars are to be the future, our power grid needs to be made much, much higher capacity AND a lot greener.

Lifestyle choices are always going to trump technology in terms of impact on the environment and saving fuel. If everyone made it a point to buy a more efficient car the next time they buy a vehicle, the impact would be truly staggering. If everyone bought a 10% more efficient car, the fuel savings would add up fast.

We can't rely on technology to pick up the slack and protect us from our own destructive lifestyles. We need to be proactive and make changes, even sacrifices. I admit I still love my sportscars, but they are the least of our worries - it's all the big SUV daily drivers and trucks that are killing us.

The problem with the US is out transportation system was never laid out for a good mass transit. We have massive urban sprawl and no real way solve that problem. Add in the fact that rail systems were never designed into the system so retrofitting them is will be very costly and very difficult to do.

As for the mass eletric cars I think you pass over my point about how most of them will be charged at night during off peak hours which means for the most part the grid can take a a huge number of them before we will start having a real issue.

We need something to replace the use of gas. Hybrids I will say are a great thing to bridge between our combustion engine and what ever is next. Things like the volt I think are the best examples of the bridge because we just need to replace the power generator and that is fairly easy to do compared to having to figure out some other type of engine to move the car. We have electric motors that we can advance for moving.

Reducing our usage of fuel I would argue is a dead end tech. All it will do is delay the problem but not solve it. Hybrids bridge us to the solution.

It'll be really cool if they release a free beta for a year or so like they did with W7. The W7 beta was very stable and knocked off a nice chunk of money from a new build (for a while anyway)

I'm hoping that will be the case, and I'm thinking that will occur as they want to drum up some excitement for win8.

They're not stooping. They are defending their product by demonstrating that the issue is not unique to their phone. I think most people instinctively knew this before the iPhone - telling someone that holding a phone a certain way might reduce the signal would have resulted in a shoulder shrug. Of course it will, it's a radio.

The N1 can't maintain a 3G signal when touched, period. Yet it didn't cause this kind of outcry because it wasn't from Apple.

it's called putting a problem into context so you can determine what is a possible fix. Apple can't change the laws of physics. My iPhone4 is a superior phone to my 3GS. I like it, and its reception, way better. and yes I use a case. I always have.

You are correct. In fact the text in the 1st image looks a little skewed as well. Most likely these images are fake, however they are pretty close to how I envision the next iPhone to look like.

Looking to ease tensions between backers of two Los Angeles cultural institutions, the City Council delayed a planned renovation of the Autry Museum on Tuesday, requesting a new review of the $6.6 million project.

In a rare move, the City Council decided to seize authority over the project from the city's Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners, which had approved the plans two weeks ago. The Autry is seeking to add two exhibition areas and a garden space on about 18,000 square feet of space at its Griffith Park site.

Backers of the Southwest Museum of the American Indian had objected to the project, fearing it would detract from their own efforts to reopen the Mount Washington facility.

Relations between backers of the Southwest Museum and Autry executives have been strained since the two institutions merged in 2003. To the dismay of northeast Los Angeles residents, who hoped the Autry National Center would revitalize the Southwest Museum, the museum instead was closed in 2009.

Also angering northeast L.A. residents is the Autry's plans to use a small number of the 300,000 artifacts stored at the Southwest Museum in the planned exhibition.

City Councilman Jose Huizar, who led the move to assert council jurisdiction over the issue, argued residents in his district "barely

knew or hadn't had a chance to attend the hearing" on the Autry's renovation.

"Regardless where you stand on this issue, the people have the right to be heard," Huizar said. "That is a fundamental principle of our democracy."

While a notice was posted on the city agency's website, the meeting was sparsely attended after city staffers failed to send out a routine email announcing the meeting, Southwest backers said.

"This was snuck through in a secret meeting," said Mark Kenyon, of the Mount Washington Homeowners Association of the approvals for the Autry, one of dozens of supporters who showed up at City Hall.

Amid uncertainty about the future of the Southwest, community groups in northeast L.A. then asked city officials to tie permit plans for Autry expansion to a legally binding agreement to support a viable Southwest Museum in perpetuity. But after negotiations between Huizar and museum officials broke down, the Autry called off a planned $175 million expansion.

Currently, the Autry National Center uses the closed Mount Washington museum as a place to sort through Southwest's collection of artifacts and art pieces.

To make it a fully functioning museum just isn't possible because of the building's small 9,800-square-foot footprint, says Joan Cumming, the Autry's senior director for marketing and communications. The Autry is seeking a partner to re-open the Southwest Museum in another capacity, but one that would be tied to the Autry. A re-opening wouldn't come before 2013, she said.

At the City Council meeting, Autry executives tried to convince the City Council to see the renovation in the context of efforts for the larger museum.

"The correlations between this (renovation) and the Southwest Museum are unfair," said Daniel Finley, president and CEO of the Autry National Center.

Before the council voted unanimously to send the Autry proposal to a subcommittee Friday for further review, City Councilman Tom LaBonge, whose district includes Griffith Park, called for an understanding between the two groups, arguing that "there's a relationship that has to come."

Charlie Fisher, a Highland Park resident who appeared at Tuesday's hearing, plans to attend Friday's hearing of the Arts, Parks, Health & Aging Committee. He hopes the subcommittee will include a caveat that states the Autry must agree to operate the Southwest Museum as an accredited museum in exchange for the approval of building permits.

"All we are asking is that the Southwest Museum be accredited as a museum as it was before," Fisher said.

As Babydoll enters the institution, she takes note of several items that would be integral if she were to attempt an escape.

In the days prior to her lobotomy, Babydoll retreats to a fantasy world in which she is newly arrived in a brothel owned by Blue, whom she envisions as a mobster. She befriends four other dancers — Amber (Jamie Chung), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), Rocket (Jena Malone), and Rocket's older sister, Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish). Dr. Gorski is envisioned as the girls' dance instructor, informing Babydoll that her virginity would be sold to a client known as "The High Roller" (Jon Hamm). Gorski encourages Babydoll to perform an erotic dance, during which Babydoll fantasizes that she was in feudal Japan, meeting the Wise Man (Scott Glenn). After expressing her desire to "escape," the Wise Man presents Babydoll with weapons. He tells her that she would need to collect five items for an escape: a map, fire, a knife, a key and a fifth, unrevealed item that would require "great sacrifice". Before parting ways, he instructs her to "defend herself," and she is confronted by three demonic samurai, which she defeats. As her fantasy ends, she finds herself back in the brothel, her dance impressing Blue and other onlookers.
