Jay-Z and Leonardo DiCaprio rubbed shoulders at Chelsea hot spot Juliet Supper Club in NYC.It takes more than movie-star looks to match Jay-Z's partying prowess. A nightclubbing source tells us Leonardo DiCaprio and the hip-hop mogul arrived separately at the Chelsea hot spot Juliet Supper Club early Monday morning, but soon buddied up in a booth.
Hova, who the insider says was "holding court" at his table, looked appreciative as DJ Jus Ske and DJ Martial played Jay-Z songs back to back. Another source says Beyonc's hubby kicked back with some Johnnie Walker Black Label.
Both men behaved themselves when it came to the ladies who prowled the club, and we hear DiCaprio checked out around 2:30 a.m. Jay stayed till well after 3. He wins.
I loveRush, man
Paul Rudd is really a Rush fan. The comic actor, who played a big fan of the Canadian rock gods in "I Love You, Man" caught the band for real at the Garden Sunday night. Rudd, low-key in a scruffy beard and purple denim jacket, stayed to the very end of the show, when he and his "I Love You, Man" co-star Jason Segel figured in a closing film clip that featured the band and a sandwich belonging to drummer Neal Peart. When the lights came up, Rudd seemed to be heading backstage, and we're sad to report that at no time during the concert did we see him "slappin' da bass, man."
Unlikely pairings
Columbia University classmates and friends Julia Stiles and Vanessa Carlton ? we're as surprised as you ? grabbed drinks and dinner together at new Little Italy hot spot the Mulberry Project on Friday night. An insider says the actress and singer quaffed bespoke cocktails and dined on yellowfin tuna, roasted artichokes and truffle fries. Beats cafeteria food.
Rangers like (grease) Lightning
The New York Rangers were Tampa Bay Lightning fans on Saturday night. A source at the Ainsworth tells us that practically the entire team, including Brandon Prust, Mark Staal and Steve Eminger, gathered at the Flatiron District sports bar with friends, family and fans to watch the Lightning beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 6-2. The Florida team's win ensured the Broadway Blueshirts would have a spot in the NHL playoffs. Our insider says that when Tampa finally triumphed, the fans lined up to congratulate our hometown puckheads, who were "jumping up and down" with excitement.
Robert Redford's
The Sundance Kid is so coy! Time magazine hosted a screening last week of Robert Redford's new movie, "The Conspirator," a drama about the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination. During a post-film question-and-answer session with the director, Time editor Rick Stengel asked audience members to raise their hands if a Redford movie had ever changed their minds about something. Several did ? and Redford feigned shock. "Really?" he said, squinting into the crowd.
Come on now, Rob: You know you duped us all into thinking Bob Woodward was dreamy.
Restaurant wars
Jerry Della Femina has not sold his namesake East Hampton restaurant ? yet. We called the ad guru after reading reports that the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Hillstone Restaurant Group had purchased his Della Femina restaurant on N. Main St. "We are in talks with the company," Della Femina told us, "but the fact is, the restaurant has not been sold." News of the potential sale has sparked much speculation that the restaurant, once a highlight of the Hamptons foodie scene, was destined to become one of Hillstone's more crowd-pleasing franchises ? further proof that the East End has become a tourist trap. But Della Femina tells us that if the deal is done, the space will probably become a Palm Beach Grill, which he calls the "best restaurant in Palm Beach." Stay tuned.
