Rick Springfield arrested on suspicion of DUI

This is the booking mug provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department of singer-actor Rick Springfield following his May 1, 2011 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence near Trancas Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Rock singer Rick Springfield, best-known for his 1981 hit "Jessie's Girl," was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after officials stopped his 1963 Corvette in Malibu, authorities said today.

Springfield, 61, was arrested about 8 p.m. Sunday after sheriff's deputies pulled over his speeding sports car on Pacific Coast Highway near Trancas Canyon Road, officials said.

After failing a field-sobriety test, he submitted to a breath analysis, which determined his blood-alcohol level was 0.10 percent - above the 0.08 legal limit.

He was released at 2 a.m. on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 5.

In addition to his singing career, Springfield is known for playing Dr. Noah Drake on the soap opera "General Hospital" from 1981-1983 and 2005-2008.
