MONTEBELLO - A woman was killed today when the Chevrolet Suburban she was driving at high speed crashed on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics sent to the area west of San Gabriel Boulevard about 11:05 a.m. pronounced the woman, in her mid-40s, dead at the scene, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.
"It appears she was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the vehicle and it overturned and hit a sign pole, ejecting her," Villalobos said.
The two right-hand lanes were closed while the crash was investigated.
The motorist's name was withheld pending notification of her relatives.
