It has been a rather strange week for baseball as it opens up the 2009 season, Giants pitcher Joe Martinez appeared to be cleaning up a 7-1 Giants win as Brewer outfielder Mike Cameron stepped to the plate to try and start a Brewers rally.
Then Cameron lined a shot off of the head of Joe Martinez. Martinez stumbled but still had consciousness when the Giants trainers got to him. Here is the clip:
That one has honestly got to hurt and I feel terrible for Mike Cameron who had to go through that. He was honestly visibly shaken by the play and it is nice to see that in our major league baseball players sometimes.
The good news however was that Martinez was alright and was only treated for a concussion and head wounds.
A day after the lose of Angels pitcher Nick Adelheart, it's nice to see a happy ending at the end of the tunnel. By the way, the Giants won the game, 7-1.
(Also, for those of you who do not know the reference in the title, this will explain it.)
