During the beginning of the Detroit Red Wings first round series between the Anaheim Ducks, left winger Jiri Hudler was viciously hit by Anaheim defensiveman Mike Brown.
The hit got Brown a five-minute major penalty for the hit. The NHL has still not commented whether a suspension would be warranted for Brown's hit against Hudler.
Earlier in the playoffs, Washington Capitals defensiveman Donald Brashear was suspended for six games due to a hit that leveled New York Rangers center Blair Betts. (There was also a presumed altercation between him and Rangers center Colton Orr before the game as well.)
I doubt that Brown will get a six-game suspension like Brashear did but it would not completely surprise me that he is at least suspended for game two against the Red Wings.
A quick note to all NHL players, watch your back in the playoffs or you might be on your back.
