Idol Meter ranks Jacob Lusk, Naima Adedapo tops

Mar 24, 2011

Jacob Lusk and Naima Adedapo sit tied at the top of USA TODAY's latest Idol Meter rankings.

Calling Naima's performance of Martha and the Vandellas' Dancing in the Street "her best yet," Ken Barnes writes: "The song, being largely a one-chord vamp, didn't require much range, and Naima was able to sing effectively while adding her patented distinctive touch -- an African-dance drum breakdown."

As for Jacob's cover of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's You're All I Need to Get By, he "showed commendable restraint and control over his sometimes-overdramatic stylings. Some fancy vocal footwork (if that's the word for it) late in the song, but he refrained from over-singing."

The bottom three on the Idol Meter: Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart and Stefano Langone, who, Barnes says, "is showing the lamest musical taste among the guys, if not the entire group."
