This has led Bobby Henderson, an unemployed physics graduate to advance the theory that life on earth was created by an alien being he has dubbed the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM). The FSM revealed himself to Henderson in a dream. Henderson has written to the Kansas Board of Education demanding that if they mandate teaching the theory of Intelligent Design in their schools that the FSM theory be included as well.
His letter states, "I think we can all look forward to the time when these three theories are given equal time in our science classrooms across the country, and eventually the world; One third time for Intelligent Design, one third time for Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, and one third time for logical conjecture based on overwhelming observable evidence."
A number of scientists have endorsed this idea, saying that both forms of Intelligent Design—ID and FSM-ID (Flying Spaghetti Monsterism) are equally valid.
"As a scientist, I'd like to say that the currently accepted scientific theory is evolution. But, some competing ideas have been proposed, such as ID and FSMism, and discussion to include one should include the other, as these ideas are equally valid."-- Mark Zurbuchen, Ph.D.
