It is hard to believe that it was in June of 2005 that Vice President "Dead Eye" Dick Cheney announced that the insurgency was in its "last throes." That was, of course, the "light at the end of the tunnel" moment of the war in Iraq, and that is when I concluded that the cause was lost.
