The German midfielder is out with a thigh tear, but Lassana Diarra is back to offer cover. Pedro Leon and Sergio Canales have been left out for technical reasons while Ricardo Carvalho is suspended.
However, Angel Di Maria, Emmanuel Adebayor and Alvaro Arbeloa are all back in the squad. Kaka is also in after flying back from Brazil following the birth of his daughter.
