The Detroit Red Wings wrapped up the President's Trophy tonight--FINALLY! After last night's loss and the slow start to tonight's game, it seemed as if they weren't going to win it at all. But, they came back, played a better second period and a much better third, winning it all with Z's goal with 11 seconds left in the game. It now doesn't matter if they beat the Blackhawks on Sunday--win or lose, next year will be interesting when the two teams meet! I think we may have a rivalry brewing.
Two more players are now injured. Maltby got hurt last night and Kopecky got it tonight. No injured came back tonight, but most should be back on Sunday or early in the first round.
Detroit had a new player in the line up tonight. Justin Abdelkader, a junior from Michigan State, was given an amateur tryout--and did very well. They hope to sign him to a three-year contract before Saturday so that he is eligible for the play-offs. Abdelkater is 6-2, 203 pounds and was named the MVP of the Frozen Four in 2007. He scored the winning goal to help MSU win the 2007 NCAA title. He made his presence known in the game tonight--he made some fine hits. He will be a fine addition.
Just look at these smiles--they say it all!
