Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen put their relationship on display at the Cannes Film Festival.

Michael Sheen sounds like a man in love.

Days after he and his "Midnight in Paris" co-star Rachel McAdams made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Cannes Film Festival, the actor vocally confirmed their status for the first time.

"Nothing happened while we were filming," Sheen revealed to E! Online at the Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday, but romance bloomed "a lot later on after that."

Still, there's no denying that he has to give the Woody Allen-directed film credit for sparking the eventual relationship.

"I will be forever grateful that it was where I met Rachel," he said.

But when asked if rumors were true that he had proposed, 42-year-old Sheen said, "Not that I know of."

The day before, Sheen, who was previously married to Kate Beckinsale, gushed to People about what makes McAdams so special.

"She's talented, intelligent, beautiful. She's warm and friendly," he said. "She's very supportive, and very kind, very funny. She makes me laugh a lot."

Their co-star Mimi Kennedy told E! she had no idea that they were even "interested in each other" while filming, and Allen indicated the same to People.

"No, I didn't see it coming," he told the magazine.

"I could notice it a little with Penlope [Cruz] and Javier [Bardem]," Allen said, referring to his "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" stars, who married three years after working on the film. "They were chummy."

"But I didn't see it coming here..." he added, "and they did not ask my permission."
