It's been an ex-Patriot signing happy offseason this year in the NFL, and today was no different as the New York Jets announced their signing of special teams ace and former Patriot Larry Izzo.
Though he's getting older now, Larry Izzo is still a talented veteran who won't do a whole ton more for a team other than play special teams but who will play those special teams very well. Other interesting tidbits about Mr. Izzo include that he's the only potential witness in the Barry Bonds case who plays in the NFL, as well as the fact that, as seen in the video above, he is terrible at karaoke.
In another Patriots story published today on NFL.com, it was pointed out that Terrell Owens and Shawn Springs, recent signings the the Bills and Pats respectively, have been following each other around. Owens, who has been in the league a year longer, spent his first 8 years in the league with the 49ers while Springs spent his first seven with the Seahawks (granted the Seahawks weren't in the AFC West, but still pretty weird there). They then moved to the NFC East in the same year, Springs to the Redskins and Owens to the Eagles and then to the Cowboys. Now they'll both be moving to the AFC East, continuing to face each other twice a year. Apparently Springs announced in a conference that "I texted him (Owens) and told him 'Stop following me around.'" You just can't make that stuff up. Also interesting to note is that the cornerback who was beaten by Owens when he performed his sharpie celebration was, in fact, Shawn Springs. But the two have had some vicious past battles; here's the many more.
