Usually when an NHL story comes to Outside the Boxscore, it usually deals with Sidney Crosby or Alexander Ovechkin. However, one story that seemed to go under the radar was New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur collecting his 552th win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
He passed goaltender Patrick Roy with the victory. Brodeur is one of the greatest goal-tenders in NHL history and has the statistics to back it up.
->100 career shutouts
->A 2.20 GAA in the regular season/A 1.90 GAA in the playoffs
->9 All-Stars appearances
->4 Vezina Trophies
One of Brodeur's most memorable moments came in game one of the 1997 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Montreal Canadiens. With less than a minute to play, the Canadiens pulled their goalie and Brodeur cleared the puck. Brodeur's shot glided into the Canadiens net for his first ever goal.
Congrats to Martin Brodeur on his record breaking win.
