Saturday: Wings 3, Bruins 1

On Saturday night the Wings won their 40th game--they have played 54 of the 82 games in the regular season. With the win they pulled ahead of the next team in the league by 16 points. This means that the Wings would have to lose 8 straight games and Ottawa (no. 2) would have to win 8 straight for them to catch up. Not a bad place for Detroit to be. They keep on figuring out how to win--hopefully they keep it up.

In basically all of the statistical lists, at least one Wing is in the top 10. In about 50% of the lists there is more than one Detroit player in the top 10. On the =/- list, 6 of the top 10 are Wings. Crazy! If things keep on the way they are, a lot of the Wings should win the end-of-the-season awards. Lidstrom should win the Norris again and Datsyuk should be the winner of the Lady Byng--again. Things are looking up for a lot more to show up in Detroit. Jack Adams? Conn Smythe? Selke? Hart? President's Trophy? Clarence S. Campbell Bowl? Stanley Cup? All are very, very possible.
