Arsenal's Robin Van Persie Doubt For Barcelona Clash Following Knee Injury In League Cup Final

Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie ahead of their Champions League second leg clash with Barcelona, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 27-year old equalised for Arsene Wenger's side having gone behind to a Nikola Zigic header in the League Cup final loss to Birmingham City on Sunday, but injured himself in the process, picking up a knock to his knee that is now to be rigorously assessed by the club's medical staff.

Boss Arsene Wenger said after the match: "He has a knee problem. Yes [he did it in scoring]."

Van Persie has been in magnificent form since returning from another long term injury and has hit 13 goals in 11 games since the turn of the year.

Despite losing to Alex McLeish's side at Wembley, Arsenal are still chasing the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, in which they will face Leyton Orient in a replay at the Emirates on Wednesday.

It is likely that the former Feyenoord man was to be rested against Orient anyway and Wenger's primary concern will be having his in-form forward back for the trip to Catalonia, as the Gunners look to make the most of their 2-1 advantage from the first leg.
