Remember Jose Offerman? He was former Major League Baseball player with the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers to name a few.
Well, he is currently managing Licey Tigers of the Dominican Winter League which is currently in the semi-final round of a playoff with the Cibao Giants.
Offerman went out to protest a call regarding balls and strikes which got his catcher ejected. Then Offerman decided to take a swing at first-base umpire Daniel Rayburn, he missed but the umpire went down. After the game, Offerman was detained by stadium security and taken to a police station to wait if Rayburn would press charges or not
This isn't the first time that Offerman has dealt with violence in baseball, back in 2007 while playing in the Independent League for the Long Island Ducks against the Bridgeport Bluefish threw a punch at catcher and charged the mound swinging a bat after be hit by a pitch.
UPDATE: Jose Offerman according to ESPNDeportes.com Enrique Rojas, has been banned for life from the Dominican Winter Baseball League.
