If it wasn't for YouTube and removing videos like Corgan's appearance on ECW, this entry would be perfect, but it's still a great story as is.
Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan/currently dating Tila Tequila fame is also a huge wrestling fan. So in 1979 2000, Billy was invited by ECW to play a solo set at an event in Peoria, Illinois. The set, however, was actually a gimmick. Billy sat in the ring and played one acoustic song before being interrupted by a wrestler named "Dangerously." A few threats were made by Dangerously, but before he could do any real damage, Corgan smashed his acoustic guitar over Dangerously's head. A bunch of Dangerously's enemies then came to Corgan's side and so there was no actual action after this, and Corgan was never heard from in ECW again.
Like the KFed-John Cena duel, this feud ended long before it could have. Maybe Corgan got busy (although the Pumpkins originally broke up in 2000 so who knows), but it is strange that wrestling companies will let celebrity characters come and go without figuring it will affect the story line. Regardless, pretty cool stuff that Billy Corgan smashed a guitar over some dude's head. Especially since it's from back when Corgan was a rock god.
For the record, most underrated Pumpkins song? Set the Ray to Jerry. Check it out.
