'primitive' belief

In marked contrast to other Aboriginal areas, these people (eastern desert) recognise no specific Land of the Dead. The Moon Myth reflects the belief that human beings are caught in an inescapable cycle marked by periodic transition, of changing status, with the expectation that one always returns because one is of the Dreaming. It is not necessary to die to achieve immortality: immortality is a condition of man. This is a fundamental tenet of Desert religious belief. (6)
