Released in February 2004 as the album's lead single, the Soulshock & Karlin-produced track became an international hit, peaking at #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and #2 in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and on the European Hot 100 Singles. Leave (Get Out) was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on October 25, 2004.
When the single reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Top 40 Mainstream, JoJo became, at age thirteen, the youngest solo artist to have a number-one single in the United States.
