In the NFL Prediction Battle thus far, Outside the Boxscore has kind of been like the Cincinatti Bengals of old. They have a decent chance to win and look good on paper, but when it comes to game time nothing happens. After four weeks the Great Sports Name Hall of Fame was up eight games in this contest, and Outside the Boxscore was starting to fade into the sunset.
Then week 5 happened, and Outside the Boxscore finally played up to its full potential, finishing with a very impressive week of 12-2. Outside the Boxscore's only incorrect picks were Buffalo over Cleveland (that's almost a push anyways because no one deserved to win that game) and Jacksonville over Seattle (I think a lot of analysts made that pick, and we all feel sick about it now). Not bad at all OTB, not bad at all.
The Great Sports Name Hall of Fame finished a good but much less impressive 10-4 this week. Incorrect win choices were the Ravens, Jaguars, Jets, and Patriots. I'm still stunned about the Patriots honestly. I could see Kyle Orton doing well there, but not 5-0 well.
Regardless, OTB has closed the gap a bit, now only down 6 games:
Current Standings (After 5 Weeks)
55-21 - Great Sports Name Hall Of Fame
49-27 - Outside The Boxscore
Week 6 holds some intense match ups like Ravens-Vikings, Giants-Saints, and Browns-Steelers (haha okay kidding there). But it should be a good week, can't wait to see what happens!
