2009 AL Cy Young Winner Zack Greinke

Zack Greinke of the Kansas City Royals received a phone call he will never forget.
On Tuesday Greinke's phone rang, and it was a number he didn't recognize. So Zack
let it go to voice mail.

After listening to the voice mail, he called back and found out that he was the 2009 AL Cy Young Award Winner. Greinke received a possible 25 of 28 first place votes and 3 second place votes for a total of 134 points. Greinke posted a 16-8 record and a ERA of 2.16. It was the lowest ERA since 2001 when Pedro Martinez posted a 1.74 ERA. Greinke beat out Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners to bring home the award.
