Breaking News: Oakland Raiders Release JaMarcus Russell

After weeks of speculation, the Oakland Raiders have finally cut ties with quarterback, JaMarcus Russell.

Russell was the first overall pick coming out of LSU back in 2007 NFL Draft and was expected to revive a Raiders franchise desperately trying to right the ship after making the Super Bowl. Russell signed a deal worth 68 million dollars for a six year span.

Sadly for Russell his career with the Raiders was mired by weight problems, a lack of work ethic, and below average play. Russell ends his career with the Raiders throwing for over 5,000 yards but with only 18 touchdowns to 23 interceptions thrown in a three year span as a starter. Many current NFL analysts and fans believe that Russell might be the biggest NFL Draft bust in history.

Oakland Raiders senior executive John Herrera said in a statement to the Association Press that the Oakland Raiders organization, "Wishes him well."
