Is Simon Cowell About to Be Knighted?

We may need to start calling Simon Cowell, "Sir," as the former American Idol judge is rumored to soon be knighted by the Queen.

"It would appear that Sir Simon could be on the cards," royal watcher Neal Sean told Access Hollywood on Monday.

"We get this New Year’s Honours List, which normally comes out around 28th or 29th of December," Sean said. "The Queen publishes a list (where) she decrees who should become a Sir, a Lord, a Knight — all that sort of stuff and apparently this (is) for services to charity."

According to the source, the former American Idol judge may be bestowed the knighthood for his fundraising efforts for the victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti on Jan. 12.

The music mogul organized a charity single to benefit Haiti, a cover of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," which featured an all-star cast that included Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Jon Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and Leona Lewis.

And, despite that sharp tongue that we got so used to hearing on Idol, Cowell apparently has a huge heart. He is also a supporter of other charities including Children’s Hospices UK and the World Society for the Protection of Animals.
