Former Memphis Tigers head football coach Tommy West was let go by the Tigers with the stench of a 2-7 season lurking about.
However, West decided to not leave without a fight as he was critical of the media's negativity towards the school's football teams and begged fans to ask, "How Can I Help This Team?" West even went to the lengths that the team should not exist if this how they are being treated.
I have give West credit though, 5 out of 6 years with a bowl appearance is not too shabby. He'll have another head coaching job down the road but he'll be remembered for his time in Memphis based on this speech rather than his success.
