I know this story is a bit old but I had to make sure that it hit the site. The New England Patriots are going to be overseas for the NFL International Series in London, England and have decided to bring along “a piano man” as their honorary captain in Sir Elton John.
We get more from the Boston Herald:
Elton John has revealed that he will be the Patriots' honorary captain on Oct. 25 at Wembley Stadium.
John is a friend of New England owners Robert & Myra Kraft, and let the news slip.
The Patriots will take on the Buccaneers at the NFL's annual game overseas.
Well, that does seem like an interesting selection but since they are friends, I figure that it is a nice gesture. I have always been a fan of the NFL going overseas to play regular season games to expand the fan base and I guess having Elton John on your side is not bad thing.
I wonder if Elton John “tickling the ivories” can lead the Patriots to a victory.
Elton John is a Patriot for a day….
