During last night's game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox where the Orioles came back from a nine-run defecit to win, the 7th inning showed us one of the most bizzare things that I have ever seen at a baseball game.
The Red Sox were cruising in the 7th inning with one out and Felix Pie at the plate for the Orioles and he weakly ground out for the second out of the inning. Well, the entire Red Sox infield runs off the field thinking that it is the third out of the inning.
The umpire eventually calls them all back saying that there was only two outs in the inning. I have seen players forget how many outs there were but not an entire group of players.
I guess in Boston, 2 outs = 3 outs.
