In this edition of March Madness Memories, we flashback to the 2005 NCAA Tournament to a first-round matchup between the 3rd ranked Kansas Jayhawks and the 14th ranked Bucknell Bison.
Kansas was only a couple years removed of being in the National Championship game and Bucknell got an invitation because of winning the Patior League tournament.
The game was a back and forth affair with either team giving no ground to the other. Bucknell eventually broke free with a bankshot by center Chris McNaughton with 10.5 seconds to go.
Kansas still had a shot to win it with forward Wayne Simien taking the game winner. It eventually rimmed out and Bucknell pulled off the upset. The Bison won the ESPY award for best upset in 2005 with this upset.
However, this was not the only upset of this tournament and we will chronicle that in the next edition of March Madness Memories.
