First of all check out this video. Ahman Green's car is ridiculous. Talk about representing your alma mater.
But today, both he and Morlon Greenwood were cut by the Texans. The Texans gained $8.8 million from the cuts, which is lovely. Gotta wonder if Ahman can shake off the injury bug and be effective as a speed back somewhere, but odds are his career is done. Kudos to him for his time with the Packers when he was actually a pretty good back. As for Greenwood, I'd look for him to join another team as he's a serviceable linebacker. Apparently he's a less serviceable rapper.
In another money move, the Jets cut reserve cornerback David Barrett. Barrett, who was due $5.1 million this next year, was an expected cut, and is the first cut of Rex Ryan's tenure as Jets Head Coach. And two smaller moves also occurred, with the 49ers releasing Keith Lewis and onetime Patriot Tully Banta-Cain (saving $3.475 million) and the Dolphins waiving Kelvin Smith and Matt McChesney (both of whom ended the year on Injured Reserve).
Additionally, the Oakland Raiders already made the first waiver claim of the year on a player released yesterday. Bruce Gradkowski will be an Oakland Raider, adding some depth behind young JaMarcus Russell.
