When most people think of the NFL franchise tag, most people would assume that it would be used on star to keep them for one year or a position played with a large salary that the team does not want to pay.
Well, the Cincinnati Bengals have franchised their kicker Shayne Graham. Yes, you heard right, kicker Shayne Graham.
Some NFL experts assumed that they might try and keep WR TJ Houshmandzadeh but they have seemed to give TJ his wish.
Shayne Graham's field goal percentage of 85.6% ranks fourth all-time on the NFL list for kickers. He also holds many Bengals kicking records.
So Bengals fans, you franchised a kicker. Even Oakland Raiders fans are laughing at you.
(Also, according to Cincy Jungle there have been three kickers that have been franchised tagged and this year the Atlanta Falcons franchised punter Michael Koenen. Much apologies for this oversight but we are still laughing at it.)
