While watching NBA All-Star Weekend, I had some sinking feeling that it was not going to live up to the hype of last year.
That sinking feeling was correct as the marquee events of the three point shoot-out and the slam dunk contest left something to be desired.
The slam dunk contest at the beginning was a relative snooze-fest with Rudy Fernandez and J.R. Smith just trying to prevent a finals match-up between Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson.
The highlight of the night was when Dwight Howard went into the phone booth and dunked on the 12 foot rim. Howard's performance after that was decent but Robinson stole the show by dunking over him.
With the performance that Howard put up in 2008, it was going to be tough to duplicate. Slam Dunk had the hype, just couldn't live up to it.
Postscript: Lebron James allegedly tossed his hat into the ring for Slam Dunk 2010. It is tough to tell if Lebron is serious or not but we will have to wait and see about that.
