When the Chicago Bulls stole Scottie Pippen from the Seattle Supersonics in a 1987 trade, they knew they were getting someone special. A solid perimeter shooter with natural one on one defensive skills, the young man from the University of Central Arkansas was regarded by pro scouts as a great athlete who lacked confidence to be a star.
Within a year of joining the Chicago Bulls, he had gained confidence. Within two years he had become a bona fide star. However, Scottie Pippen, already one of the best at finishing the break, wanted even more. In 1991, he showed the Bulls he could handle the ball and ignite the team's half court offense, freeing running mate Michael Jordan to wreak havoc on NBA team defenses. This is what transformed the Chicago Bulls from a collection of talented players into the dynasty basketball team that went on to win 6 NBA championships.

- Born : September 25th, 1965 in Hamburg, Arkansas. (Youngest of 12 children).
- Age 11 : Starts playing basketball
- Age 15 : Manages football team. Makes varsity basketball, but doesn't play because he isn't strong enough.
- Age 17 : Starts as two guard and takes team to state regionals. 6'3", but too skinny. No colleges offered Pippen a scholarship.
- Age 18 : Atends University of Central Arkansas on a work study grant. Joins basketball team after being team manager.
- Age 21 : Grows to 6'7" and scores 23.6 points per game in senior season. Drafted #5 by the Sonics and then traded to the Chicago Bulls.
- 1990 : Blossoms in the NBA playoffs with 19.3 average.
