Lets not argue, lets discuss, maybe I could agree with your views. So heer it goes, how is quota limits fair to anybody? I thought we are all equals, unless you think you are challenged in anyways - physically or otherwise, in that case I agree, you are 100% right, there must be a special quota for you. For all others who consider themselves to be equal shareholders to the free society, isn't preferential treatment for any set of people "wrong" and "unfair"? Just asking? I mean are we not equals, if yes, then there should be no quota for any country, if no and you think you are superior, which maybe true, then I should get preferential treatment, if no, and you think you are inferior or otherwise challenged in anyways, well, in that case yes, you sure should be treat better than others.... you know....

Replace money by applicants and replace investors by countries, and you will get a sense as to why per country quota is implemented. Looks like you are one of the beneficiaries of H1 who does not have good education. You can console yourself with the word 'skill' and all that computer jargon The bottomline is H1B visa is for professionals. However, in the past few years, Indian IT bodyshops have sent underskilled computer operators to the US to enhance their operating margins. This will come to end very soon and has to come to an end very soon. I think the process has already begun. Number of H1b visas rejected at Indian bodyshops have gone up. Operating margins at Infosys has shrunk significantly. Infosys and other bodyshops have seen stock price plummet drastically.

3. In worst case, during the judgment time they will consider your family, two kids. They are not heartless people and it�s just an accident. That guy must be insane to ask 3.25 million. I couldn�t believe the whiplash injury especially when the damage was <$1500. I just assume the impact must be very minimal.
My advice is, don�t lose your hope and sleep. You insurance company is there with you to defend. Keep in touch with them and respond promptly to court notice or any letters. You do not need to withdraw your GC. Worst case if everything goes against you declare bankruptcy and leave the country legally. I don't like idea of making IV a commercial-type business. IV is for legal immigrants and it should be funded by Legal Immigrants, however, practically its not that easy as it sounds, and more importantly its not working enough for IV to operate and generate results that we are waiting for.
Problem is not that we don�t have money as small as $20, issue is we don�t want to pay. The reasons could be a)- we don�t understand importance of IV, b)- don�t trust IV fund management, c)- love freebies, d)- don�t have money e)- everything else.
Lets talk about e)- there are 31000 reasons not to donate to IV. Well no matter how hard we push there will be people who will never contribute. I met quite a few who been saying �yeah� for quite sometime and visit IV almost daily but have not contributed $0.01. Can�t help them who can�t help themselves.
d)- don�t have money: smells fishy, we are Hi-Tech workers, get paid really good and can�t donate $20, I don�t buy this idea. Better explain me next time.
c)- love freebies: its great concept, I like it too, but when IV is fighting for us, the whole legal immigrant community, can�t we donate $20 for our own future. Lets take it as a lottery, we buy ticket, we may win and may not win, compare it to IV, we donate to IV, IV may be able to resolve issue before we even reach there in GC process (just like name check), and IV may not help retrogration, but still we come to forum, get information about process, discuss our own case, get seniors/gurus review of our own GC case/issues. We can�t go wrong with that. Its doable, just $20 for all this.
b)- IV fund management: well IV has 25000 dedicated registered members, WOW, but way more than that IV has un-registered unknown number of enemies. Exposing everything on web is not a great idea, its like playing poker with your cards open. IV registration process is very simple and hence ANYONE can join and get sensitive info very easily and may use it against us. To protect that info IV is working on local chapters, local chapter registration is based on personal interaction, almost guarantees us that member is really legal immigrant. Once we are local chapter member then you get all such info in personal Inbox. You can see, verify, and discuss IV spending, see all transparent at this state chapter level. Just join them, no fee, its free!

What exactly do you mean when you say starting this business? Do you want to open a trading account on your own and trade? Join a day trading firm? Or open a Fund? Each one will have different implications on H1. You can open your own investment account with a brokerage firm and trade your own money, no problem with H1 what so ever.
If you join a day trading firm you will have to be on H1 with them. Very few ones do but I know of a couple who will do it. In fact a classmate of mine is working as a Trader/Analyst with a small trading firm in NYC. They have sponsored his H1.
Starting a fund, (if you can get the seed money :D), you open a LLC and sponsor yourself. You will be an employee of the company and draw a salary. You tell me what you have in mind and I will tell you what to do or what I did.

Both these ETF's have huge loop holes that are well known in the pro circles. The very question that they are holding physical gold or silver is highly questionable considering the market cap of these ETF's. There is risk that they will not perform like the underlying at all.
The custodians of SLV is JPM who usually has a huge short position on Colmex silver and GLD is HSBC who has a huge short position on gold. Read this article for more info.

1. Given the green card woes lot of US eductated scientists and technical talent are leaving US for their home country. This is helping the home country and increasing outsourcing market. What are you going to do about it? Are you going to do any thing to keep them here?

I convinced more people from my office to send a message on change.gov. Even US citizens who respect your work could send a message to the transition team saying that they are for the legal and highly skilled immigrants...
Getting recommendations from your bosses, managers and co-workers may also be helpful. Its very unusual for the USCIS/Immigration dept people to hear good things about the immigrants from US Citizens.
These days lots of people are talking about the transition at work and they know about change.gov website. If you know good friends who can write for you then that could be of great help.
I have a feeling that some good news is coming up in the pipeline. Was reading about Janet Naplolitano and Silos in today's NY times editorial.

Did it occur to anyone that we are only talking about compensating Aman the $64k he spent already. Imagine if he had made use of that $64k as an investment(let us say a safe investment with minimum returns) of that amount it should have exceeded that $64k value by now.
The least we can do at this moment is to immediately refund Aman and other core team members the amount they have spent towards the administrative costs of IV. Pappu / Logic Life / Other core team members, please let us know what kind of legal/administrative action is required to get this done.
We will immediately start a funding drive towards filling in this shortage from the total IV funds. IMHO on the longer run the smaller funds ($10, $20 etc) should not be neglected.
Let us figure out the required amount and have a new thread started about this. This settlement should be treated with high priority before any other funding drive. Pledging my $200 towards this.

We in the core team know this and when we see the kind of contributions we get from members, we feel disappointed that our efforts are not valued. When we started the $20 contributions people felt $20 was too high and wanted $10 per month or less. The kind of work and effort that is needed to push a single provision is phenomenal and needs lot of capital. The more the better. Sometimes reading posts that say IV core is selfish also disappoints us. People do not know the effort that goes in getting anything done. This website is simply a tool for us to communicate to everyone. The big effort is the lobbying work. just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....
i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......
maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation
why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......
and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

I think some of our members put the votes in wrong place.
For Eg : for "Before Nov 01 2002" right now the number of votes are 24 click on 24 you will see which user voted for "Before Nov 01 2002 now check for couple of users for their Labour Approval Date some have labour approval dates of 2006 and 2007

He is undoubtedly a populist (he used to be a sycophant earlier ... remember the earlier days on CNN ?), the man is cheap no doubt. He is a nativist, who claims immunity to such charges laid upon him. He never mentions that he is married to a hispanic american lady - well that is a deliberate attempt at cover.
Guess what the " hard core republican ", corporate CEO loving, capitalist champion is now the warrior for the middle class and a critic of the current administration.
Can you actually believe this guy?
I dislike his show, i do not rescept his perspective (because it is mostly based on incorrect or false information) and i sincerely believe that he is a worthless parrot.
Time to act - we must begin countering him.
