Bush tried really hard. I believe there is no complaint about Bush when it comes to immigration. He earned that credit.
I have just seen this in CNN, is Bush talking about legal immigration?

Letting h4s work in "non specific-skilled jobs" may actually work against us because they will be in direct competition with local people in those jobs and anti immigrant will be against it. I guess porting to h1 from h4 can be a good option and a feasable option.

Actually I know someone who got it even faster.
This Pakistani guy came to the US in 2004 fresh off boat to do Masters. Completed Masters by mid 2005, immediately landed job at MS, they started his GC immediately in EB2 ROW and by end of 2005 he had GC in hand. It was ridiculous.
How many days is it taking for labor to clear these days.

This might come as a surprise to some of you, but someone needs to say it out loud. GET A LIFE FOLKS!!!! there is more to life then EB, GC and all. it seem all we desi's can think of is how to get a green card so we can live here with peace and never have to worry bout getting laid off or anything.
Few points:
1) having gc is a privilege not a right.
2) US has every right to choose whom they want to have in their country.
3) If getting PR or citizenship of a western country is the goal there are many countries which have a fair point based system.
4) Considering the number of fraud's committed by Indian body shoppers and people who use them, i am not surprised USCIS is extra careful when it comes to Indian applications. Anyone who got his wife with no exp with software dev an h1b visa from some cheat in Jersey knows what i am talking bout . My freind got his wife an H1 after showing she knew software testing even though her major was fine arts and all she was good at was web surfing :)
5) have a back up. i came here in 2001 as student and have seen it all. I am on h1b since 2004. i knew we have too many people whose sole aim in life is a American GC. to avoid becoming one of those who check processing dates first thing in morning, i applied for Canadian PR, got it in 8 months and i am not even gonna bother applying for labor, i-140 and all those precious life controlling documents.
Wake up friends, you have options. Don't let your life depend on you application status.
Nitin
People of every country have the right to get whoever they want. The only question is are those rules clear and also are the decisions being made for the correct reasons. If they announce that they do not want to give GCs to anyone people will make up their minds if they want to go now or whenever there visa expires based on their personal situation.

I agree. These ETFs are too risky. With so many pros in the game nothing is easy nowadays. As you had mentioned in one of your post, the market for individuals is as close to gambling as it gets.
If you cannot make trading your profession then Invest don't trade. Or trade options where you don't have to watch tick by tick.
Hey guys who are scolding us that this is not related to immigration- Common cut us some slack. Can we discuss just immigration 365 days when we are the only ones doing it and policy makers dont care about us? We will go nuts doing it. What is the harm if we all discuss other stuff. Maybe there could be a seperate thread or something for discussing non immigration stuff. As a community we should be able to discuss and share other stuff than just our frustrations.

My mistake.. I was under the impression that my contact info is visible. I have already met with my local congressman and submitted a memo. I have got a reply saying they would address this issue as part of impending CIR bill. I was not sure what to make of it, whether he is pro and anti retrogression..

Looks like this Sheila is in her new avatar, from 3 year degree people trying to make $$$ in others troubles! She threatened to sue IVians for exposing her tricks when she tried to advt her service in her posts, as friendly posts.
USCIS does not buy her evaluation anymore. Go to her and lose your valuable time and few thousand dollars in addition to your I-140.
Do you have the link where she advertise her service in the posts?

it seems like a good question to ask
They are closed for the new questions. Can some one edit their question to include this part. This questions shows why fixing GC is important for americans and american competetiveness.

So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do. Just my 2 cents and all you frustrated folks please take a deep breath before jumping in.
These are blantantly baseless comments. Your comments indicate that your frustration with retrogression has clouded your judgement. IV is one organization that will be able to help you and you are unable to recognize that.
Have you even made a single contribution? Or just made demands to get updates?
Before you talk about autocracy, look up its meaning in a dictionary. Nobody has forced you to join IV. Nobody held a gun to your head and told you to come to this forum. You are doing this of your own free will. This is not a paid service organization; it is purely voluntary. Understood!!!!!!!!
IV core can choose to respond to you at their will......So, next time you start complaining, remember that nobody cares about what you think about IV. You can fart as much as you want on other forums against IV, but IV will not falter in its effort to get retrogression relief.

Nope no GC for me yet. Same boat as everyone else in EB3 India. Did you not read the "eb3" part of the eb3_nepa? :)
All the drama people... If you do not know much about eb3_nepa...Pls read this
Eb3Nepa is very much here from initial days of this organization and supported the cause alot, even more than main members(So called..) here.
That is how he knows the core team members names/handles, even lot of you do not know them...
Only 1 or 2 members are here from initial 12+ core members..That is another thing though.
Anyway, as others mentioned, people have to move on..and this movement is just not by core members but by all. Core members comes/goes, after their journey, unless they have some agendas. (In the +ve way)
Hope, you do not start another storm here...
Eb3Nepa, congrats on your green card.
You must be enjoying the time now after GC.
How is the life after GC. Is it same like earlier or any change.
Because we are still in the queue, hoping to get it in 1,2 months as per time lines.

Here's an anecdote -
This was back in the late 80s, when I was growing up - in Bangalore.
India had just lost the Finals of a well fought [field] hockey match to Pakistan. We were all very disappointed by the loss, but it saddened me further to see a victory procession with waving Pakistani flags in the Muslim parts of the City.
Ofcourse, India is a secular country and more so the United States.. and you can cheer whoever you please..
But, If you chose to become a US Citizen, and US were in a battle with your country of Origin (let's narrow it down to Sports, to keep it less complicated), which country would you side? If I chose to side with my country of origin, it would make me a hypocrite, wouldn't it ?
