Bill Walton was a phenomenon of the 1970's in the NBA. He may have been the first "hippie" to make in the NBA. When he came into the league he had his long red hair in a pony tail, he dressed much like a mountain man would, and constantly listened to the Grateful Dead. He spent his "off court" time cruising in his jeep, going on white water rafting trips, and fund raising for political causes.
However, when he was on the court, Bill Walton was all business! His carefree off the court attitude was replaced with a hard nosed disciplined attitude while on the court. Despite being plagued with nagging injuries throughout Walton's career, he still managed to become one of the best centers in NBA history. He played for the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Portland Trail Blazers. Some of his basketball achievements were :

- 1977 NBA Rebounding Champion
