NFL Prediction Battle Week 2: OTB gains on the GSNHOF

Ah week two. Some blow outs, but a lot of great games. With a lot of great plays, like the Andre Johnson one pictured above. Which both Outside the Boxscore and the Great Sports Name Hall of Fame predicted WRONG.

So that sucks.

And overall, the two blogs finished pretty close this week, with Outside the Boxscore edging the competition by a win:
GSNHOF's picks (9-7)
OTB's picks (10-6)

Overall though, GSNHOF is still up 4 games:

Current Standings (After 2 Weeks)
23-9 - Great Sports Name Hall Of Fame
19-13 - Outside The Boxscore (4 Games Back)

The gap closed a bit, but we'll see what happens in week 3. Predictions will be up later this week, and make sure you take a look at them so you can be amazed by how well we did (or just make fun of us for doing such a terrible job, either/or). And if you're particularly interested, I made a home post for the competition at GSNHOF (You can check it out here.)

Card Giveaway over at Great Sports Name Hall of Fame

Hideki Matsui Game UsedDo you like baseball cards? Are you using a computer in Rhode Island, Maine, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Alaska, or Hawaii? Do you know someone who is? Come on over to the Great Sports Name Hall of Fame and find out how you can earn a chance to win a ton of trading cards, including the above pictured Hideki Matsui game used card.

In brief, the GSNHOF is battling his girlfriend's Etsy shop (Purple Hippo Designs) to see who can have a visitor from all 50 US states first, according to google analytics. Purple Hippo is up 47 states to 39, and so this should help close the gap.

Another post to check out if you're looking to trade for cards is Clunkers for McGriffs. You send McGriffs to the GSNHOF, they send you tons of cards. It's not a bad deal.

Great Name Hall of Fame Nominee - Wonderful Terrific Monds III

You just can't make this stuff up.

Wonderful Terrific Monds the Third was a career minor league who player in the Atlanta, Colorado, and Cincinatti farm systems. His father, Wonder Monds, played football for the San Francisco 49ers. Wonderful actually had a decent run in the minors, batting .281 and stealing quite a few bases and hitting 55 homeruns over 7 years. But he never made it to the bigs, which is very sad given his stellar name.

The reason for the name? Wonderful's Grandfather was the first boy born in his family after 11 girls, which his father (Monds the Third's Great Grandfather) found Wonderful and Terrific. The name stuck.

The Great Sports Name Hall of Fame has moved to its own website, and this is Wonderful Terrific Monds the Third's Nomination for it. Want to see if Wonderful makes the Hall? Take a look at the link above!
