Inside the NBA Guys Do Their Best Mr. T Impressions

During last night's Inside the NBA, the guys had to shill for the brand new A-Team movie that is coming out relatively soon.

So, Ernie Johnson/Kenny Smith/and Charles Barkley decided to get all dressed up in their Mr. T garb and do their best impressions of B.A. Baracus.

Charles Barkley + Taser = Greatest Inside the NBA Moment of All-Time

In the past couple of years, Inside the NBA analyst Charles Barkley has done some pretty stupid things but I think might want to rethink this one.

During last night's "Inside the NBA", Ernie mentioned the Philadelphia Phillie fan who was tased for running out onto the field.

Then Charles decided to let it known that he would like to be tased for the sake of being tased.

Tell How Us Really Feel, Charles Barkley

During last night's T-Mobile Halftime Report for the NBA Playoffs, two female fans sent in a question for Charles Barkley regarding whether he prefered blondes or brunettes.

Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson decided to have a good laugh about it but Charles decided to fight back.

Ernie Johnson's One Shining Moment

During last night's Inside the NBA, EJ's Neat-O Stat of The Night was regarding Kenny Smith's alma-mater University of North Carolina Tarheels as they lost to the Dayton Flyers in the NIT.

Essentially, Kenny was a little peeved about the entire matter saying that this wasn't funny anymore.

However, what was funny was Ernie Johnson's rendition to the NCAA Men's Tourney Musical Diddy, "One Shining Moment".

Charles Barkley goes "White-Face"

With the NBA back in full swing, it is nice to see the crew of "Inside the NBA" get back to us with their constant analysis and comedy from Charles Barkley.

During last night's show, a picture of Sammy Sosa was shown to Barkley with his currently lighter skin complexion and Barkley decided to poke some fun at it by turning himself "White" with some white-face.

However, that picture of Kenny will haunt your dreams.

Sleeping with the Sleepers: Baron Davis

Above is your first NBA sponsored Youtube video of the season. Anyway, on to the new feature: Sleeping with the Sleepers!

Anyone can read a boxscore and anyone can live blog a game, but not everyone can combine the two (or weave one of the two, or neither) into something vaguely or falsely or, I don't know, prophetically resembling a narrative. The NBA season kicked off today, and OtB just looked at the top 50 NBA players in the NBA. Many of them populate the contenders and perennial playoff participants. This doesn't mean the NBA's basement doesn't contain personalities and perspectives worth covering. Far from it. Towards the point, OtB will be taking the opportunity this season to look at some of the sleepers in the league. We'll be looking at teams that look like they might be on the outside of the playoffs looking in. This will come in the form of the good and bad, the pros and cons, the Nocturnal Daydreams (as most NBA games are played at night) and the Nightmares. With that said, our first edition gives the sleep study to the LA Clippers' Baron Davis during the first game of the season. We pick up the frequency from Boom Dizzle as the third quarter gets under way...

Nocturnal Daydreams:
  • The Beard is back! (It itches like hell.)
  • I wonder if I can grow birds.
  • Opening night! And we're on national TV!
  • Chris Kaman is a beast! No, really. I saw him eat half a baby once at a Pizza Hut.
  • I wonder why Sheamus was wrestling last night and tonight?
  • Maybe they'll let me host Raw. Y'know, like Shaq.
  • Unfortunately, you can see me tonight, which is like likening me to DeShawn Stevenson. Shudder.
  • Eric Gordon looks great. But because of him, I have to guard Kobe. Y'know, cuz Gordy's the same height as me, and I'm "stocky."

Baron Von Davis, originally uploaded by casbah42.
Nightmares:
  • I have to guard Kobe?!?!?!
  • Pau Gasol's out? I thought I wouldn't be the most grungy looking guy on the court tonight.
  • My foot hurts...
  • Is Craig Sager making fun of my bow tie?
  • I can't believe I have to wait a whole month to see New Moon. OMG! I can't believe Bella and Edward aren't like bf/gf forevs!
  • Marcus Camby LMFAO! Opportunist is not generally a good thing to be. I know you liked it when they called you that in New York, but that was 12 years ago!
  • Oh no he didn't! Reggie called me Kimbo Slice!?! Actually, I"m okay with that...
  • Hmm...am I more like my new, unfortunately sidelined because Stern made us play too many preseason games team mate Blake Griffin or beard buddy Pau Gasol? Maybe I should reconsider this beard thing.
  • Oh noes! Bassy's making me look bad, and he's making Camby look good!
  • I don't care if he can make those, Tsar, Marcus shouldn't be taking threes! He did it in Denver. Why do you think we got him so cheap? Fire Mike Dunleavy dot come, anyone?
Nocturnal Daydreams:
  • I gotta get tickets to see that Michael Jackson movie tomorrow. Maybe J-Alba will go with me. I could be a third wheel! I'll get a Snickers...
  • Maybe I'll sit out the 4th. Yeah. Oooh, look at Shannon Brown go!
  • I look better than Kobe. And I'm bigger on Youtube than him, amn't I?
  • Eric Gordon kind of reminds me of Monta Ellis. Maybe it's time to force a trade. Maybe Stephen Jackson will switch with me.
  • I missed another three! It's okay, though. I put money on us to lose. The whole season! Just kidding.
  • Artest hasn't made a three tonight either. Well, he's missed more than me anyway.
  • Oh look! Machine! I have more hits on Youtube than him too, right? Wanna play the staring...wait. He cut his hair! I thought this was going to be a shaggy year. Someone forget to send me the memo? Hey, Sasha! We can see your face and it needs an oil change!

Nightmares:
  • I can't believe I'm a Clipper. In another city, this roster could've stolen this game.
  • Lamar Odom. He gets Khloe and he makes a three.
  • I'm going to dream about Ron Artest's hair tonight. So sad when a basketball soldier is lost.
  • Argh! The lead's back up to 15. This low calorie diet is really making me grumpy.
  • Oh my goodness! Replay? We forfeit already. We forfeit!
  • The Lakers are 20-1?!? On opening night!?! Oh, wait, that's just your daily Reggie Miller nonsense.
Nocturnal Daydreams:
  • Inside the NBA! It's about time!
  • Look! It's me! Highlights of the game we just lost!
  • Haha! Charles missed the reason for the Cavs stagnancy and I caught it! It's because they lost they're offensive genius from last season John Kuester. They haven't been terrible on offense for years. They had been 'til last year, and it looks like they're going to be again.
  • Chuck wants the Cavs to run. He's brought up both bets from previous seasons, the one where he raced Dick Bevetta and the one where he had to kiss a donkey. Think he wants to race LeBron? Or how 'bout Shaq? Shaq vs. Charles. Yeah.
  • Rockets-Blazers highlights! Portland gets revenge. You can bet this won't be a bad match-up for the Blazers this year like it was last year. Outlaw for 6th man of the year?
  • Gil is back! If he looks that good, I must be looking real pretty.
  • I should move to Portland. They're kinda like the Bay Area up there, hippies and all. Hey, Dunleavy, trade me for Andre Miller! Nah, not now, when he gets tired of not being needed up there.
  • Charles says the Rockets will have the worst record in the West! Not us! Yay!

When I slam dunk, the backboard, I break it

On last night’s edition of Inside the NBA, Ernie’s Neat-O State of the Night dealt with players who broke the backboard or basket in an NBA game.

This was prompted by when Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard broke the shot-clock during game of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Darryl Dawkins was the king of breaking backboards, Remember Chocolate Thunder!

SNL spoofs Inside the NBA

I figured that most of you missed the season finale of Saturday Night Live, (who didn't?) Saturday Night Live finally decided to make fun of something actually funny.

Inside the NBA.

Will Ferrell was guest-hosting and the skit was based around the endless "Frank TV" promos during NBA playoffs and MLB playoffs. Kenan Thompson's Charles Barkley is not the greatest and Bill Hader did a decent job of playing Ernie Johnson.

However, here is the reaction video from last night's version of Inside the NBA for Ernie's Neat-O Stat of the Night.

How many push-ups can Charles Barkley do?

During last night’s edition of Inside the NBA, EJ’s Neat-O Stat of the Night ended up being a challenge between Charles Barkley and camerawomen Cybelle Forbes on who could do the most push-ups.

Originally this challenge came from an off-air contest during an episode of the Barkley Zone where Charles was asked a question regarding how many pushups he could do. Then camera woman Cybelle should him how to do a push-up after seeing his attempt at it. Then the following night’s Inside the NBA, the challenge was laid down and Barkley accepted it.

Who won the push-up challenge? You will have to watch the video to find out.

Inside the NBA goes Intergalactic

For a weekend edition of Ernie’s Neat-O Stat of the Night on Inside the NBA, TNT’s Ernie Johnson mentioned that the crew of Space Shuttle Atlantis were going to take two basketballs with them into space.

That got the crew of Inside the NBA thinking, what would happen if instead of “Goin’ Fishing,” a team decided to “Goin’ into Orbit.”

As you can tell they spared no expense for this edition of the Neat-O Stat of the Night.

Where Kenny Smith Happens

During last night's Inside the NBA, EJ's Neat-O Stat of the Night paid an homage to Kenny Smith hitting seven three pointers in the 1995 NBA Finals.

Kenny thought that they were going to do a parody of "Where Amazing Happens" commercial where Kenny would get his moment of glory from that day.

Very sadly, he got this version of the commercial instead.

Ron Artest calls Barkley Overrated, Roy GOAT

Heading into these 2009 NBA playoffs, we all knew the marquee match-up to look for was Lebron-Kobe, and comparisons were on everyone's lips. Ron Artest, however, said Wednesday night that Brandon Roy is, in fact, the best player he's ever played against (see above. also: a shakier version including the obligatory TNT studio ribbing feat. C-Webb). He went on to say that he'd have loved to have played against MJ in his prime (and that Jordan shared the sentiment), conjecturing that His Airness would've "given" the Artest still known as Artest 50 points. Odd how a defensive player would see a high scoring endeavor from his cover as a gift. Keep in mind that one of these summer battles Artest mentions saw him break a aging G.O.A.T.'s rib and suck out the marrow. But Ron-Ron's always been a little different.

Which brings us to the juicy meat of our dribble. When asked to measure up the TNT broadcast crew, Artest ignored Kenny and EJ but went right at the soft front-belly of Sir Charles, calling the Round Mound of Rebound "a bit overrated," "a little small," and adding "he had no defense." Now, it's a moot point whether Barkley or Artest are better, although the Chuckster is a pretty certain hall of famer, while Artest ain't so shirley (unless that comes with a side helping of Paul, mind you). There are two important quibbles, though. First of all, Ron probably hasn't seen Charles lately, as no one with 20/20 would call MJ's golf buddy "small." Secondly, the truly salient point to argue is who is funnier. Artest with his sometime monotone and always over the top and plummeting back down again? Or Barkley with his rolling good humor and outspoken Occam's Razor-ness? To settle this, we present you with representative videos of both humorists:

As a final note, keep in mind this isn't the first time Artest has verbally dissed Barkley, nor is it the first time a player has taken a swipe (that's King James, by the by) at the tv persona that is Charles Barkley.

So that's what Charles Barkley thinks about...

On last night's edition of Inside the NBA, Ernie Johnson's Neat-O Stat of Night was sponsored by Panasonic Viera which obviously gave them an opportunity to show their nice new 103-inch flat-screen in the studio.

Then Ernie mentioned that it was so nice that it could tell what they were thinking and then hilarity ensues.

For the reason for the Kenny Smith joke, go to this clip to find out the reason why.

Today’s Moment of Zen: Run for your life, Charles Barkley is Wolverine!

In Today’s edition of the Moment of Zen, TNT showed an NBA on TNT commercial for X-Men’s Origins: Wolverine using Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith arguing over who is the more tougher X-Men, Gambit or Wolverine?

Barkley sides with Wolverine and Kenny likes Gambit, who wins in the end? You, the viewer.

I think I finally know how Barkley eats all those Krispy Kremes

Charles Barkley fails at eating a piece of bread in 45 seconds

Most of you know that the NBA playoffs have begun which only means one thing, Inside the NBA is almost on everyday.

Last night for EJ's Neat-O stat of the night, Chris Webber challenged Charles Barkley to finish a piece of bread in under 45 seconds.

Very sadly, Chuck failed.

Today's Moment of Zen: "I'm a Dumbass"

In Today's Moment of Zen, we turn to one of my favorite NBA players in Sir Charles Barkley.

Barkley who currently is serving jail time for his DUI that he received during New Years in Scottsdale, Arizona. He will be released in 36 hours on work release.

However, this reminded me of a clip from Inside the NBA where Ernie Johnson for his neat-o stat of the night decided to give Charles some words of wisdom.

Rasheed Wallace Buzzer Beater 3/26/07

I know there have been a lot of impressive buzzer beaters lately, but this shot has got to be up there with the best of them. Watch Rasheed Wallace hit from half court to send the game into OT for a Pistons win in 2007.

Charles Barkley returns to Inside the NBA

Well, the day has come and Charles Barkley is now back on TNT and Inside the NBA. Here is a video of what has happened so far on his return.

Barkley was recently on suspension from the show due to a DUI charge that occured in Scottsdale during New Year's. This is his first on-air reaction since the incident.

The Kenny Smith/Gary Payton Dance-Off

We had a post just before the all-star break about how Gary Payton challenged Kenny Smith to a dance-off.

Well, thanks to our friends at NESWsports.com, here are the results of the carnage.

Charles Barkley to take leave of absense from Inside the NBA

Although this doesn't come as a complete suprise but Charles Barkley has decided to take a leave of absense from Inside the NBA.

Barkley was pulled in Scottsdale, Arizona on New Year's Ever with a BAC of .149 which over the legal limit.

There has been no current date when Barkley will be set to return from Inside the NBA. However we all wish Charles well and honestly this is not a laughing matter.

However TMZ.com has found the booking audio from his arrest. This might be funny.
