The San Fransisco 49ers didn't win a lot this year, but they definitely win the award for most awesome. This Sunday they were already going to wear throwback uniforms. Apparently they're also going to sport throwback mustaches. How cool is that?
Shaun Hill was the one who let the world know:
"Today is Mustache Monday," Hill said a day after the 49ers rallied to beat the Rams 17-16 in St. Louis. "It's for the throwback game. Every day we go to meetings and we go by these beautiful pictures and we admire these guys' mustaches." And later, "Every single day that we walk through here, you just can't help but admire John Ayers' mustache. It's awesome."
But that's not all. The best part of the article by far is the following:
Hill said he was down on himself for throwing three interceptions against the Rams but the comeback win leavened his mood.
"I woke up very happy about that (the win) and to walk into work today and see all these glorious mustaches, that just brightens your day," he said.
For the record, I was between keeping Shaun Hill and Jason Campbell in a keeper league of mine. This swung the vote in Hill's favor. Because he's that awesome.
