There have only been a few constant themes in Americana for the past twenty years: Keanu Reeves will make a bad movie, VH1 will have umpteenth dating show to show catty and slutty women, and Joe Paterno will coach the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Joe Paterno agreed to a three year extension through 2011. It’s interesting to still note that Paterno who now is 82 will continue to coach into his golden years. This will be his 59th season on the Penn State coaching staff along with 43rd as a head coach.
The real question that begs to be answered is this, what does he do as a coach? I figured he is now a college football rah-rah head coach who lets his assistants control the intricacies of the offense and defense.
It was his son Jay Paterno, who is the quarterbacks coach at Penn State who instituted a new offense for Penn State in the form of HD option attack. However, you can’t compare what Joe Pa has done for the game of college football and honestly in this economy I don’t blame him.
