Last night’s San Diego Poinsettia Bowl might have been the best college football bowl game that most you probably didn’t watch. It pitted two teams that were in the top 12 of the BCS poll and featured two of the best scoring defenses.
TCU barely edged out a win by the score 17 to 16 which ended Boise State’s perfect season. I know many fans who complained that Boise State should have gone to a BCS bowl game and rightfully so. However, TCU played like a team determined to prove that they were no fluke. (That was the case; TCU’s only two losses came to Utah and Oklahoma, both teams in BCS bowl games)
What did this game mean to the BCS? Well, maybe it by the crazy logic of the BCS made the right decision by not taking Boise State to the Fiesta Bowl. With all the fans calling for a playoff, the BCS system has provided some good match-ups this year and well a playoff just wouldn’t. All of you are clamoring for that Cincinnati vs. TCU match-up in prime-time, right?
Post Script: Ian Johnson passed Marshall Faulk on the all-time WAC rushing touchdown list with a score from twenty yards out in the first quarter. Congratulations to him.
Maybe the BCS, got it right?
