Slingin Sammy Baugh passes away at 94

There was some sad news yesterday as former Washington Redskins QB Sammy Baugh passed away at the age of 94.

In his later years, he encountered many health problems which included dementia, Alzheimer disease, and kidney problems.

Baugh played for the Redskins from 1937 to 1952. He was their starting quarterback and still holds the NFL record for punt per average with a 51.4 average.

What will probably be remembered is the quote he made after the 1940 NFL Championship against the Bears.

The Redskins were blown out 73 to 0 and reporter asked him about a drop touchdown pass that could have changed the tide of the game.

Yeah," Baugh said. "It would have been 73-7."
