swimming

‘Although the Bardo Thodral has a rather foreboding reputation, it carries a positive message. Death….is not to be feared, but to be handled calmly and gracefully. Life does not end after the physical body departs. Dying is just a door to new and interesting experiences, which we are able to prepare for in this lifetime. “Do not be afraid of death”….’

I am swimming upward from the darkness. I am breathing again. Hope comes from an unlikely source.

My soul knows this to be true. The purpose of my struggle, the research, the study, the images: my fight to the death with death. A valid place for childhood monsters who pursued me relentlessly into adulthood – a reason for them to be, a reason for me to look at them long and hard, paint them, love them. My soul knew to befriend them, to be unafraid of ‘myself’. This is such a precious gift.

Faith is returned.
